This biography was the 17th I created on the DPP, originally published on 19.4.23. I heavily reflected on the DPP in my Diary of a Disabled PhD Student, which formed my university research.
Welcome to the Disabled Peoples Project, which showcases biographies of people with disabilities doing great things. Each episode or Post is a different biography lasting less than 3 minutes. See my project on other platforms:

Today's biography is Lady Gaga.
Who can forget the iconic moment when Lady Gaga's first music singles were released between 2007-2009 in the UK! Songs from the first album, such as 'Poker Face', 'Bad Romance' and 'Just Dance', set the scene. They then see her at award ceremonies in a unique fashion. Lady Gaga has gone on to be an award-winning film star in A Star Is Born with an equally award-winning soundtrack. She has ignited many activism and philanthropy work such as youth employment opportunities, Human Rights, and fracking to LGBTQ issues and has stated she's bisexual. Lady Gaga seems more than just a singer. She looks like an iconic cultural revolution. Professor Mathieu Deflem, a fan of the singer, has developed a sociology course at the University of South Carolina and an accompanying book about 'Lady Gaga and Sociology of Fame' (2016). Lady Gaga has said her constant reinvention is her way of liberation.
Lady Gaga hasn't got to where she is without struggles, though. She disclosed that she was raped earlier in her young adult life, resulting in Post-traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD. She dropped out of a prestigious university as her music career developed and was later diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In an Instagram Post in 2017, Lady Gaga wrote that she is a 'fighter' rather than a 'sufferer'. Fibromyalgia is often a misunderstood disability. The condition can be severely debilitating and cause a range of implications, from widespread pain, chronic fatigue, brain fog, disrupted sleep patterns and more. More information about Fibromyalgia can be found here: https://www.versusarthritis.org/.../cond.../fibromyalgia/...
Lady Gaga had to famously cancel one of her concerts due to Fibromyalgia, which she wrote she felt guilty about. We are here for you, Lady Gaga, as fans. Or, as Jenni, AKA The Autistic Magician, social media influencer and educator I interviewed earlier this year, says, 'Supporter' is a more appropriate word as supporters stick with the person they like through good times and bad.
By the way, Lady Gaga was born Stefani Germanotta and named Madonna one of the people who influenced her style growing up! Madonna also grew up strict Italian Catholic and has equally iconic transformations. Also, Lady Gaga is a talented piano player!
